Barbara Fisher, LCSW

LCSW

I help individuals and families navigate a variety of complex life circumstances, all forms of trauma, and challenging relationships and transitions. My therapeutic approach blends a culturally sensitive, intergenerational orientation with experiential, energy field, gestalt and somatic experiencing techniques. My style is gentle, clear and solution focused. I am a certified to supervise social workers seeking licensure in Virginia, and have extensive experience treating conditions relating to trauma, depression, anxiety and complex bereavement and loss. My training background includes DBT, CBT, psychodynamic and gestalt therapy; I have expertise with special education, family systems, and challenges managing physical and emotional symptoms, chronic illnesses and medical conditions. The goal of therapy is to feel better, regulate emotions, discover strengths, and shed negative thinking patterns and habits. We will work together toward your healing, recovery and a renewed sense of direction in life.
