An internationally recognized breathing and movement specialist, Betsy Polatin, MFA, SEP, has been teaching for more than forty years and was a master lecturer and an assistant professor at Boston University's College of Fine Arts for twenty-five years. Her background includes forty-five years of movement education and performance, as well as training in music, dance, yoga, meditation, trauma resolution, and the broader healing arts. Her teaching experience includes Berklee College of Music, Touch and Movement in Trauma Therapy, Muscular Therapy Institute, Kripalu, The Embodiment Conference, Tanglewood Music Festival, and Opera Institute of Boston. Betsy's new book is called HUMANUAL (a manual for being human) An Epic Journey to your Expanded Self. She leads international trainings where she presents her unique and revolutionary fusion of ideas: scientific knowledge combined with ancient wisdom and intuitive human creativity. This work helps people recognize their habitual patterns, which are often charged with unconscious commitment. Once these patterns are brought to awareness, depth of change can happen on many levels, as the life force resumes. Her work is greatly influenced by the teachings of Spiritual and Meditation Masters. Since 2016, she has been co-teaching ongoing traveling workshops, themed “Trauma and the Performing Artist” and “Trauma in the Public Eye,” with Peter A. Levine, PhD. She also co-teaches Wisdom of Trauma Retreats with Gabor Mate.

Betsy’s previous book, "The Actor’s Secret" was featured on ABC TV and Fox News, received rave reviews, and is now a recommended textbook in many performing arts schools. As a well-known educator, she has published numerous articles in the Huffington Post. She maintains a private practice in Calabasas, CA, and online, and she is certified to provide personal sessions for all levels of SEI training.
