Dr. Cacky has spent over 15 years studying the power of words on the body, mind, soul, and society. She is an assistant professor teaching holistic approaches to healing and health at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Dr. Cacky studied art therapy and holistic psychology at Lesley University where she went on to earn a Masters of Education in art-based activism and social entrepreneurship.
While adjunct teaching and deepening her embodied practice, she went on to earn her PhD in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Somatic Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Dr. Cacky was awarded the Peter A. Levine Research Award in Dissertation Leadership by Somatic Experiencing International in 2022 for her dissertation, “Somatic Reclamation: Exploring the Lived Experience of Words”.
She has cultivated a diverse somatic toolkit to support clients on their healing journey. Dr. Cacky is a Master Somatic Movement Therapist and Educator, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, DARe Trainee, and RYT-500. Additionally, she is an experienced Reiki Master practitioner and has done training in energy work, embodied social justice, EFT, NLP, and somatic attachment therapy. Dr. Cacky is also a non-denominational reverend. She draws from her eclectic background to meet each client's unique needs and goals.
Dr. Cacky’s current scholarship is centered around the internalization of language, narrative, and trauma on a somatic level and how it affects relationship and social agency. She is an advocate for the importance of arts based and somatically informed research. Dr. Cacky is deeply passionate about social justice, the arts, intergenerational trauma, and somatics.
She lives in the Boston area with her beloved partner and cat.
