I am a psychotherapist, with a social work background. Prior to working in private practice, I worked on an acute admissions psychiatric ward for about three years where I witnessed the longer term effects of trauma, then for 6 years as a first responder to sexual assault and child sexual assault in the public health system in New South Wales (Australia). These experiences were my introduction to working with trauma, both in its immediate aftermath and in its longer term presentation.
I am passionate about helping people to restore a sense of ease in their bodies and minds, and (re)discovering a sense of joy, pleasure and safety in their lives. As a result, dealing with unprocessed trauma is a huge part of my work . Working with a body-oriented/ body-informed approach is integral to all of my work.
My social work background and my own experience before that as a migrant to a racially divided country means that I have had to work on my own experiences of racism and violence, and I identify and address issues of systemic injustice as and when I come across them, both in my everyday work and in my activist work.
