Somatic Coach (for Individuals & Couples/Groups)

MEET JENNA – OVERVIEW
As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and Professional Certified Coach (PCC), my approach is grounded in creating a trusting and supportive relationship to explore your path of healing, growing, and achieving important personal and professional goals in your life.  I believe all of us can overcome the hardships of intense stress and trauma, when we work at the natural pace of our nervous system and learn to follow the innate wisdom of our own body. I am here to help guide you on your journey whether you seek one-on-one sessions as an individual or if you are seeking support to build skills or resolve complex issues within a couple, family, community group, or workplace/business.  For SE students, I am also a "SE approved provider" for personal sessions (for your 4-session/4-credit Beginning Level requirement).

WHAT HAPPENS IN A SOMATIC COACHING SESSION?
As the foundation of my somatic coaching practice, I incorporate bio-psycho-social education on how our human nervous system deals with stress, triggers, conflict, relationship problems, and highly stressful events, as well as how we are designed to thrive within relationships (both with others and ourselves).  I find this education to be a major source of empowerment and hope for clients.  Sessions include both somatic activities and powerful coaching questions targeted at achieving meaningful progress towards your goals, including your experiencing actual shifts in your limiting beliefs, discomfort/distress, or sense of feeling stuck.  I welcome working with any stressor or trauma as a direct focus or by working with whatever naturally arises during a session.

COMMON COACHING GOALS
Below are examples of common client goals, as some may resonate with you:
● Reduce the impact of a trigger
● Create a home base inside oneself
● Process grief or guilt with support
● Increase self-care
● Balance compassion & boundaries
● Transform the inner critic
● Lessen emotional intensity
● Address avoidance issues
● Strengthen relationships
● Improve one’s communication style (including parent-child communication)
● Learn a great model for having difficult conversations
● Build a specific life or leadership skill in an area of challenge
● Become a more effective leader or business owner and/or plan for retirement

MY PERSONAL STORY
Like many, my personal journey to grow and heal started with participation in various holistic, spiritual, and psychological activities, but my true transformation began when I found Somatic Experiencing (SE) as a client myself!  Looking back, using cognitive/talking practices taught me meaningful concepts and gave me some much needed support, and my using guided physical practices (such as meditation and yoga) were often calming. However, neither actually shifted my limiting patterns (and their related discomfort and pain), nor helped me reach my deepest life goals.  It was my receiving adequate support from body-based trauma-informed SE practitioners that guided me to be able to face, explore, and transform my difficult bodily sensations, emotions, beliefs, and behavioral patterns that were rooted deep inside me, as unconscious, automatic, and limiting patterns.  Adding to that was learning the "critical piece" of how to increase my ability to access my authentic, core Self, so I could learn how to be caring towards and guide myself from within.   Now I know how to be a trusted guide for others who also seek the journey to real transformation.

MORE ABOUT MY TRAINING AND APPROACH
In addition to my SEP training, my formal education includes a Psychology Bachelor’s degree and a Management and Public Policy Master’s degree (from the University of Pittsburgh), an advanced board certification as a Professional Coach (from the International Coaching Federation), a Performance and Leadership Coaching Certification (from Brown University), and a mediator certification (from the Pittsburgh Mediation Center).  I also incorporate the exceptional frameworks of Internal Family Systems (IFS), the Enneagram personality system, and Compassionate Inquiry (developed by Dr. Gabor Mate) into my coaching approach.  Combined, I find these modalities create a synergy that results in greater successes for clients: more self-awareness, self-compassion, acceptance, insight, access to intuition, healing, freedom, productivity, fulfillment, joy, and deeper connections to both ourselves and each other.

INVITATION TO REACH OUT
I invite you to email me to schedule a complimentary 30-minute consultation to explore our fit and ask me any questions about the healing process and Somatic Experiencing.  I look forward to connecting with you and to the possibility of accompanying you on your important journey!   Jenna@contactWCC.com.

COST/INSURANCE

Please note that most insurances do not cover coaches who are not therapists.  Insurance *might* cover "Life or Trauma Coaching" or Somatic Experiencing only when you have a special "wellness rider" reimbursement or flexible spending. Otherwise, I reserve some trauma-resolution sessions at $115/session and offer prepaid packages with a slightly reduced price.
