Jen Silacci, LCSW, SEP

The impact of trauma on a person’s life can be profound. One of the greatest privileges of my 20+ years in practice has been witnessing the resilience of the human spirit — watching people heal and reconnect with their health, happiness, and sense of wholeness.

After earning my MSW from NYU, I completed postgraduate training in eating disorders and body image at the Women’s Therapy Centre Institute, and in Trauma Studies at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. I went on to complete the three-year Somatic Experiencing® training, becoming an SEP in 2008, and later served as an SE assistant in NYC.

With a deep desire to create a culturally and spiritually sensitive practice, I pursued further studies in Judaism, Native American spirituality, and a two-year program exploring the world’s major faith traditions. These experiences have been a true gift, helping me better support clients who have experienced religious or spiritual trauma, and deepening my appreciation for the many spiritual practices that can be powerful resources in healing.

Over the years, I’ve led eating disorder groups for NYU, nonprofit organizations, and in my private practice. I’ve also had the privilege of teaching and providing group case consultation on eating disorders and trauma at postgraduate institutes in New York City. Supporting and mentoring early-career therapists is something I’m deeply passionate about.

Today, I see clients virtually in California, Colorado, and New York, and provide consultation to early-career therapists nationwide. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits, I’m more than happy to help you navigate the process of exploring potential reimbursement. And if you’ve been in a motor vehicle accident, I can assist with receipts and forms to help with your auto insurance claims.

I invite you to visit my website to get a better sense of who I am. If you feel we might be a good match, I would love to hear from you. Finding the right fit is one of the most important parts of the therapeutic journey, and I welcome any questions you may have as you consider your next steps.
