Professional Description: After spending 11 years dealing directly with the initial impacts of various traumas in a hospital emergency unit in Upstate New York, I was left with a deep curiosity about the long-term impacts and chronic symptoms many people experience after a physically and/or emotionally traumatic event. When I moved to the west coast I left the hospital environment and began working with clients one on one as both a Polarity Therapy Practitioner and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.
Whether one is struggling with present day challenges (i.e. surgical procedures, car accidents, abuse, addiction, etc.) or longstanding symptoms from childhood trauma (i.e. chronic anxiety, migraines, fibromyalgia, etc.) somatic education can be a powerful ally in creating relief and expanding vitality. Results from integrating past traumas in the nervous system can not only be a resolution of symptoms but also a greater experience of safety in the world and in one's body, as well as a renewed sense of joy and empowerment.
What I enjoy most about being a somatic educator is seeing the transformation my clients make in their lives and in their relationship to their bodies. When the symptoms experienced are understood cognitively, and the nervous system is guided to integrate the trauma, the fight, flight or freeze response is no longer running the show. There is now an ability to "grow into one's self." I enjoy facilitating this growth in each and every client - whether it be an individual, family, or child.
