Julie works as a body therapist, movement educator and somatic experiencing practitioner.
Julie teaches yoga and movement classes for students healing from trauma and chronic pain. After receiving her teacher training from the Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health in the USA, she has continued to study with renowned teachers in the tradition of Hatha yoga, completing advanced studies in restorative yoga, yoga nidra, and an embodied approach to the learning anatomy and physiology with the school of Body-Mind Centering (BMC).
Julie enjoys assisting at SE trainings and developing her connection with a network of other SE students and practitioners. She specializes in using a hands-on approach to healing trauma, with fully-clothed seated or table work. Her style is informed by Dr. Upledger's Craniosacral Therapy and Touch Skills Training from trauma therapists with Kathy Kain and David Berger in the USA. Julie works as a Body Therapist with the NGO Refugee’s as Survivors and has a private practice in Auckland were she works with people recovering from trauma, chronic pain, addiction, depression and anxiety. Julie is passionate about creating environments where people can feel safe and be in relationship with themselves and others.
