Kelly Binder

Registered Psychotherapist (RP), MA, MEd, SEP, CCC

Kelly Binder is the owner of  Trauma Transformation Therapy.  Her passion is to work collaboratively and compassionately with adults to create the conditions needed to support their nervous system’s ability to renegotiate and release trauma from the body.

Her joy is bearing witness to her clients’ increased capacity to gradually be with and integrate their experience of trauma (e.g., thoughts, emotions, sensations, etc.) and rebalance their nervous system; thus, restoring vitality and aliveness so they can lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Kelly has a Master of Arts in Psychology from Carleton University and a Master of Education in Counselling from the University of Ottawa. She is a Registered Psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She is also a Canadian Certified Counsellor and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Kelly completed her basic training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

She has worked in the mental health field for over 25 years, 8 years of which has been providing individual and group psychotherapy to students attending Western University which she thoroughly enjoyed. Through her own personal experiences and healing from trauma along with her professional training, she has had the privilege and honour to support individuals in their own journey of trauma recovery and resolution.

Kelly uses an integrative, trauma-informed, attachment-focused, "bottom-up" approach to address nervous system dysregulation from polyvagal and structural dissociation theory perspectives to resolve symptoms of PTSD as well as developmental, complex trauma using treatment modalities including but not limited to:

• Somatic Experiencing® (SE™)
• Internal Family Systems (IFS)

She approaches other issues such as anxiety and panic disorder, depression, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), addiction, disordered eating, chronic pain, and chronic stress through a trauma lens and framework.
