Psychotherapy for Transformation

Welcome to my private practice I am here to support your healing, growth, transformation, and thriving. I bring over 20 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families. I am a California State licensed psychotherapist (lic.#50312), certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, yoga teacher, and the author of 8 books in the fields of psychology and spirituality. My psychological training spans over 20 years and incorporates traditional and alternative approaches to psychotherapy including: psychodynamic, gestalt, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic, transpersonal, and dialectical behavioral therapy. I believe that somatic and psychological healing is not only about overcoming wounds and working through problems and traumas, but about healing, thriving, becoming relationally healthy, vocationally empowered, and fulfilling our highest potential as human beings. No matter how wounded, traumatized, or unstable the individual, couple, or family feels when entering my practice, I am able to see, and help them to discover, their fundamental goodness and gifts, and provide a steady, safe, compassionate, and confidential space in which healing and thriving can and will emerge.

In 2010, I became a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and offer both focused Somatic Experiencing sessions, as well as integrating somatic modalities into depth psychotherapy. I believe that safely integrating body-centered approaches into the psychotherapeutic setting accelerates the process of psychological transformation, integration, and change. Why? Because trauma is stored not only in the mind but in the body. Together we can locate where traumas and contractions are held within the body, and gently begin to unwind them “from the inside out”, releasing long-held tension from within. Through interweaving somatic approaches to understanding with other modalities of psychotherapy, and teaching and empowering clients how to do this for themselves, individuals, couples, and groups learn to integrate these practices into their own lives and report significant changes in their ability to self-regulate their emotions and nervous systems. These practices can also be taught and practiced effectively through the medium of Skype and video conferencing. I speak Spanish. Hablo Espanol.

In 2010 I began to teach Yoga & Psyche workshops and trainings that integrate Somatic Experiencing and other embodiment modalities with Yoga in its multifaceted context of posture/asana, meditation, breathwork, and deeper philosophical foundation. In 2016 I co-taught the first Somatic Experiencing & Yoga workshop with Dr. Peter Levine in San Francisco, and in 2017 I taught an In-Person and Online training on Somatic Experiencing & Yoga through the Foundation for Human Enrichment.
