Hello, my name is Michelle and I have been working in the behavioral health field since 1992. I have a small private practice providing psychotherapy to individuals who are struggling with common life issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-worth, relationships and relational trauma, substance use disorders, grief and loss, and other traumas that may include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I utilize a customized approach that may consist of various techniques such as Somatic Experiencing, (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience (DARe), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), stress management and mindfulness techniques, creative processes/activities, humor, and traditional talk therapy, to name a few. With my over twenty years of experience, I provide a balance of insightful and direct feedback with non-directive therapy, as I understand the importance of you discovering your own insights. I am an open and accepting person who is non-judgmental, as I realize we are all just human, and are perfectly imperfect.
I have a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling with a specialty in Trauma, Abuse, and Deprivation. I hold two independent licenses in the state of Arizona as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC). I also am a Certified Traumatologist (CT) with the Green Cross Academy of Traumatology. I am trained in both Level 1 & 2 of EMDR. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and provide Beginning, Intermediate & Advanced Level Personal Sessions, and Beginning Level Case Consults for SE certification, and am a Lead Assistant for Beginning & Intermediate SE trainings. I am a Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience (DARe) provider, and provide Personal Sessions & Consults for DARe certification. I am also trained in Post Induction Therapy (PIT), and am also a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist (CGRS). I completed a Certificate Program in Traumatic Stress Studies through Bessel van der Kolk’s, The Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute, as well as an eight-month Leadership Institute Training through the Pacific Southwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center Network.
