Throughout my career, beginning in my late teen years, I became actively involved in a steady variety of volunteer work within my community, helping others. I soon realized that I held a passion for working with people. After a 13 year career in industry working as an engineer, I returned to school in South Florida. I earned my Master of Social Work degree at Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida in May of 1996. In September of 2001, I completed my Massage Therapy certificate at Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center, Miami, Florida. I am currently licensed and certified to practice Clinical Social Work and Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in several states.
My professional career spans over 35 years, combining multiple career paths in industry, mental and physical health, and massage and bodywork. My areas of expertise include mood disorders, chronic mental illness, substance abuse, PTSD, trauma, pain, and gender dysphoria, along with education and wellness. In my work, I have the pleasure of working with adults, young adults, elders, Veterans, and the LGBTQ community. My work is influenced by several schools of psychotherapy, therapeutic massage and somatic practices (bodywork); all of which help people to understand their bodies, injuries, emotional lives, relationships, illnesses and personal dynamics as part of their healing process.
I enjoy ongoing study in mental health and bodywork care, health and fitness, research, travel, writing, and providing educational opportunities for clients and professionals through presentations. I am a current member of the National Association of Social Workers, the American Massage Therapy Association, a member of The United States Association for Body Psychotherapy and a member of the European Association for Body Psychotherapy.
Thank you for allowing me to work with you.
