Penny has been working professionally in complementary healthcare since 2003. Her practice provides an integrated approach to all manner of stress, emotional distress and trauma, synthesising the professional approaches of Somatic Experiencing, Emotional Awareness, Bowlby's Attachment Theory, Stephen Porges Polyvagal Theory, Parts of Self, and the Grief Recovery Method (GRM) with Chinese Taoism, (the philosophy behind Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture).
She is certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and an international SE Senior Assistant, (UK, Australia, Poland and Hungary). She is currently approved as a personal session provider, individual case consult provider and small group case consult provider for all levels of trainees from Beginner to Advanced.
Penny works with many different adults who come seeking help for all manner of unease or dis-ease, e.g. psycho-emotional imbalances such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, anger issues; or physical symptoms such as heartburn, IBS, muscular tension/pain or fatigue. Previous clients have included those with a history of childhood abuse, birth trauma, and grief.
In 2009 she co-founded the Somatic Experiencing Association UK (SEA UK, www.seauk.org.uk), and served on the Management Committee 2009 - 2016, (Chair and Treasurer). She was also a Board member of the European Association of SE, (EASE) 2012 -2015.
Prior to retraining as a health professional in 1999 Penny worked in different areas of the pharmaceutical industry and so is very comfortable with Western Neuroscience, and medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
