Rachel (Brandwene) Staley

LCSW, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, Attachment Trauma Specialist

As a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP) and licensed therapist with over a decade of experience, I create a sanctuary where the deepest parts of your story can finally be heard, felt, and transformed.

My practice specializes in helping individuals break free from insecure attachment patterns and mothers who want to heal birth trauma and prevent passing attachment wounds to their children.

Why Somatic Work Changes Everything:

Traditional talk therapy often misses what your body has been trying to tell you for years. Those moments when your chest tightens during conflict, when your voice gets stuck in your throat trying to express a need, or when you feel the impulse to chase after emotional unavailability these aren't just thoughts or behaviors. They're physiological patterns stored in your nervous system.

Through Somatic Experiencing and Dynamic Attachment Repatterning, we access healing at this fundamental level. Clients consistently report profound shifts in how they physically respond to relationship triggers:

  • The knot in your stomach when awaiting responses dissolves
  • The freeze response during difficult conversations melts
  • The constant scanning for signs of rejection quiets
  • The overwhelming waves of anxiety during disagreements settle

For Mothers: Breaking Generational Patterns:

For mothers who have experienced traumatic birth experiences or who recognize their own attachment wounds activating in parenthood, this work becomes particularly transformative.

Together, we address:

  • How birth trauma can disrupt early bonding and impact your nervous system
  • The tender moments when your own childhood wounds surface in parenting
  • How to respond to your child's big emotions without repeating patterns from your past
  • Creating the secure base for your children that you may not have experienced yourself

As a mother myself, I intimately understand the deep desire to create a different experience for our children. When we heal our own attachment wounds, we not only transform our present experience but also change the legacy we pass to future generations.

My Approach:

Our work together is both gentle and profound. I honor all parts of you including the protective mechanisms that once helped you survive. Rather than fighting these adaptations, we bring curiosity and compassion to understand their purpose.

The therapeutic relationship becomes a laboratory where you can experience secure attachment perhaps for the first time. From this foundation, we develop practical tools to:

  • Regulate your nervous system in real time
  • Express your needs with confidence
  • Navigate conflicts without losing yourself
  • Recognize the difference between familiar patterns and genuine connection
  • Integrate your physical sensations, emotions, thoughts, and spiritual wisdom
