Presently working with clients through tele-heath and in person.

Rik is the Author of the Book "If You Can't Change Your Mood, Change Your Mind ~ mindful reflections toward self-discovery." Cofounder of the nonprofit The Mindfulness Care Center.

My private practice of over 20 years utilizes a Mindful-Somatic approach in support of clients; focusing on healing high levels of complex stress, deep-rooted traumatic emotional anxiety, and PTSD. I’ve worked with many clients dealing with early childhood trauma from emotional, verbal, physical & sexual abuse, to early birth, accidents, illness, torture, drowning, airplane crashes, and near-death states, plus offering grief & loss support. In the healing process, clients quite often touch into unresolved grief and the loss of the self that has not been dealt with. The mind and heart need to be heard with compassionate care so we can live in our wholeness.

Rik has been a long-term Mindfulness Meditation Teacher with over 34 years of meditation practice, mindfulness studies, and self-retreat practice, plus teaching mindfulness and meditation.

I've assisted Somatic Experiencing trainings around the country, plus traveled to the New Orleans/Baton Rouge area in support of people who were reeling from the effects of Hurricane Katrina and Rita. I’ve attended advanced training with Peter Levine founder of Somatic Experiencing® and completed the Advanced "Eye Of The Needle Training" working on near-death states.

Rik has trained and served as a Buddhist/Interfaith Chaplain at San Francisco General Hospital and CPMC/California Pacific Medical Center Hospitals. I sit on the PAG/Professional Advisory Group for Spiritual Care for Sutter Health/CPMC Hospitals in San Francisco.

Through my nonprofit, I created and developed a Mindful-Somatic Program for dissolving and unwinding traumatic stress anxiety called The DEER Program: Developing Emotional Embodied Resiliency. One attendee expressed “It was the best 8-weeks of her year.”

I have a background in various training methods; from SE/Somatic Experiencing, physical & emotional bodywork methods, and mindfulness training. I’m a Resident Graduate of the California Pacific Medical Center CPE/Clinical Pastoral Education Program and Integrative Health & Healing Program. I've spent time at SF General Hospital in the ICU/Intensive Care Unit meeting with patients, families, and staff. For many years I facilitated a “Mindfulness Meditation & Movement Class” in two of the hospital Psych Units.

I facilitate Mindfulness Meditation Classes weekly online and an online Grief & Loss Support Group. Go to <mindfulnesscare.or>
