Cardinal Catalysts

Sam brings a background in social work and community organizing to her SE practice, using a strengths-based, humanistic approach to working with clients.  Compassion and resilience are core to Sam's practice, and Sam is affirming of all identities and cultures, and willing to explore where intersectionality and oppression both support growth and can complicate recovery.

Sam's background as a researcher and health systems policy analyst allows her to inform her individualized practice with emerging lessons from current research.   Trauma often tangles our core narratives, and Sam's somatic experiencing practice supports untangling the stories the body tells, allowing, but never requiring clients to discuss the details of their traumatic experiences.

Sam has extensive experience, either lived and/or professional, with military culture, suicide, gender/sexuality issues, foster care, homelessness, dissociation, and disaster response.  She works with individuals age 18 and older who are  self-motivated to explore their own healing and growth.  Sam has a particular interest in working with people with chronic pain, illness, and anxiety that may impact their ability to access services at an office, as well as others that may be challenged with finding accessible, high quality care in their area.

Sam primarily offers video-based Somatic Experiencing.  Sliding scale available based on means, including special rates for individuals who are enrolled in a Medicaid plan or certain other public benefits.  Sam also provides workshops to communities and consultation to non-profit boards and other groups using a trauma-attuned framework.  She travels to Texas at least three times a year, typically in the Austin - Houston - Dallas areas and offers in person sessions during those visits.
