I have worked as a Licensed Massage Therapist since 1983. Over the years I have expanded my practice to include energy healing approaches as well as mind/body somatic approaches to bodywork. Rosen Method Bodywork is a gentle appoach that explores how emotions are held in the body and this dovetails perfectly with Somatic Experiencing. I am interested in working with people who want to explore how stress and trauma are held in their bodies. I see our relationship as a collaborative process of exploration. I work to create a safe environment that allows a person to settle into their body and experience in the moment. SE is a participatory process of opening in a new way to noticing what is here in the present, from sensations in the body to memories and images as well as to understandings that emerge as we explore what arises. It is not primarily a conversational process although talking is part of the process. It is about learning to attend to sensations, images, impulses and insights that come from this process of supported exploration. My job is to create a safe and supportive environment that allows my clients to get to know aspects of themselves that have been submerged and unprocessed. This is a gentle approach aimed at renegotiating traumatic experiences that have created blockages and holding patterns in the mind/body. I ask that people who come to me with a clinical diagnosis have a therapist on their team as well. My work is particularly well suited to people interested in spiritual transformation who are able to function in their lives but want to enter more deeply into a healing process. Some sessions include use of the massage table with gentle touch and some sessions are done seated without touch.
