I work with people who are dealing with the difficulties of resolving trauma, whose symptoms often appear as depression and anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, chronic pain and illness, or self-destructive behaviors. I am a licensed MFT, and hold certifications in both Somatic Experiencing® and gestalt therapy, and training in Comprehensive Resource Model. I work in a group practice setting, treating adolescents and adults and co-leading therapy groups. I also specialize in serving the mental health needs of gay/lesbian/bi/transgender clients.
I am the co-owner and executive director of The New Beginnings Center for Somatic Mental Health, which has served the Ventura County community since 1982. The Center is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners that includes licensed Marriage Family Therapists, licensed Physical Therapist, licensed bodyworker, dietician, and MD. The Center provides an adult mental health Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for trauma and a wide variety of outpatient mental and integrative health services, specializing in somatic approaches to healing and health.
As an adjunct faculty member at Pepperdine University, I also teach graduate classes in Understanding Sex-Gender-Sexual Orientation, Clinical Practicum, and Interpersonal Skills & Group Therapy. As a clinical supervisor, I provide training in the areas of group process, gestalt therapy and trauma treatment. I have spoken at several national conferences on the applications of Somatic Experiencing in Addiction and Eating Disorder Treatment.
