Sol Marie Doran

Sol is a somatically and ecologically-oriented counselor committed to wellness through connection with self, community, & nature and the weaving of healthy culture. She views a variety of symptoms as having a modern context, such as a lack of adequate community, ceremony or ritual, connection with nature, meaningful work connected to one's gifts, natural movement, or various other soulful endeavors. Nevertheless, she believes in finding ways to thrive and to weave nourishing things back into life.

Sol has an extensive caregiving background working with children in nature and home settings, which informs her work. She engages training and practices  regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion and is affirming of BIPOC, LGBTQ+ clients, and those with alternative relationship styles.

Sol has worked with counseling clients since 2011, as a nature connection mentor and trainer since 2002, & with children in various capacities since 1995.

She graduated in 2012 with a master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Somatic Concentration from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington State and is certified in the Somatic Experiencing Method®. She is a Somatic Experiencing Method® training assistant and an approved session requirement provider for beginning level students.

Her other primary influences include Kim Scanlon, Michael Meade, Jon Young, Katy Bowman, Steve Hoskinson, attachment theory, and nature mentoring work.
