For over 25 years, trauma has been a consistent thread woven throughout the experiences of those I have served in the course of my social work practice. I have been privileged to support people in a variety of areas including acquired brain injury, addictions, intimate partner violence, mental health, concurrent disorders, sexual violence and trauma, as well as provide individual, marital, family, and group counselling to a diverse range of ages and needs in both community and institutional settings.
As a result of my personal and professional experiences, I believe that adversity is a call to growth and that everyone has the requisite resources/skills to achieve their goals. Given that most difficulties people experience are relational in nature, I firmly believe in the transformative power of a safe and supportive relationship. Engaging in a collaborative, compassionate, and respectful relationship fosters hope. Together, these powerful forces have the ability to unlock barriers that often prevent forward movement.
