Taryn Elizabeth Longo

Taryn Longo, SEP, is the founder of The Mastery Studio and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, a body-based approach focusing on the way trauma is held in the nervous system. She is also a certified SSP facilitator (Dr. Porges Safe & Sound Protocol), utilizing music to support neural regulation, and is a Somatic Experiencing International (SEI) teaching assistant, assisting multiple SE training cohorts throughout the US, including having the honor of assisting SE founder Peter Levine in his public workshops.

Taryn has an additional background in depth psychology and specialized training in Jungian-based trauma studies, informing her work at the intersection of trauma and art. With a rich background in the arts and a long-standing association with the music world, Taryn’s clientele has become composed of the artists, thinkers and doers who are inherently non-conformist, whose work in some way challenges the status quo and who are therefore looking for a therapeutic approach to match. Of her clientele, her primary base is folks behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. While clients come to work on a wide range of goals, Taryn is a certified Domestic Violence Advocate and has a speciality in working with domestic abuse, sexual trauma, narcissistic and psychological abuse, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts through a somatic lens.

Taryn also works within her local community to bring a trauma lens to community building, with the goal of influencing social change toward a more equitable, and therefore healthy, society. In addition to local work, she is a member of the Behind the Scenes Steering Committee for its Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Initiative, working to bring mental health awareness and psychological safety backstage to the entertainment industry. Through her work with Behind the Scenes, Taryn presents regularly throughout the industry on the importance of understanding the role of trauma in suicide prevention.
