A secure and compassionate bond is a helpful step forward in healing from the ongoing effects of past trauma, interpersonal challenges, and sudden stressors. Therapy is often the last step taken when feeling trapped or pushed into a corner. "Why would I share my fears or secrets?" is a common question. Competent therapy can be vital for building resilience (and reducing symptoms) that often involves an exploration of what is and what was. Delving deeply into the complex experience of life with honesty and openness can feel frightening and exhilarating. Within the same breath, it can be a path of gentle curiosity and wonderment.
I utilize a trauma-informed approach that is compassionate and conscious. Somatic Experiencing informs much of my work, as I strongly value bottom-up processing as a pathway to healing wounds in the physiology that are revealed in cognition, emotion, and behavior.
With experience of being on both sides, the client and the therapist, I have learned what a secure bond can feel like and how to be fully here with another. My role as your therapist is being present for your journey.
